You are entitled to free travel to and from school if you

• are under 8 years old and live more than 2 miles from your nearest appropriate school,
• are aged 8-16 years old and live more than 3 miles from nearest appropriate school.

A new law brought in last year means that you might be entitled to free travel if you get free school meals or if your family get the maximum level of Working Tax Credit.

This is only a guideline though. Your next step is to ring your Local Education Authority who can give you advice on your situation.
