About the Scheme

‘Walk the History of the Games’

We would like to invite your school to take part in an exciting and educational walking initiative: ‘Walk the History of the Games’, in the build up to the 2012 Games.

The scheme is designed to encourage school pupils across West Yorkshire to walk, scoot and cycle their way around the globe and as part of a school challenge to help promote a more congestion-busting, healthy and environmentally-friendly way of travelling to school.

The aim of the challenge is to travel from the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, through time to London 2012, learning interesting facts about the host cities along the way – while keeping fit and healthy.

Interested? Contact your Local Authority who will issue you with a username and password to log onto this site. You then can then start entering your school miles onto the 'Walk the History of the Games' league table.

After submitting your schools mileage, you may find fun fact sheets to download and it could also trigger mystery prizes!

Find out more about the Walk the 'History of the Games' by downloading the School Information Pack.
